Interval Abbreviation

For convenience, intervals are often abbreviated with a letter for the quality and a number for the generic size.

Notice that the abbreviations for diminished (d) and minor (m) are written in lower case! So, abbreviated, a Perfect 4th would be P4, a diminished octave would be d8, etc.
