Intervals
 |
An interval is the distance between two pitches. You already
know some intervals: half steps and whole steps.
|
| |
Intervals have a generic name and a specific name, or quality.
A generic interval is a count of the letter names from one
note to another, ignoring accidentals, and counting both notes.
This will work for all of the intervals except a 1st, which we
call a unison or prime and an 8th which we call an
octave.

 |
Speed Tip: the notes of an odd-numbered interval will both be
on a line or in a space. When one note is on a line and the other
in a space, it is an even-numbered interval.
